Community Involvement

Cater Care Scholarship Program

Cater Care are the catering providers at various University and TAFE campuses across Australia, where every day we take an active role in the student community. Currently we provide several scholarships each year to outstanding students nominated by the faculty to offset the financial responsibilities of tertiary education.

In remote communities, opportunities for tertiary education can often be restricted by distance, financial circumstance or in some instances, by cultural lifestyle.

To encourage young adults to further their education and provide them with opportunity to do so, Cater Care offer a range of grants to financially assist promising students who wish to study in major town centres.

Working in conjunction with local schools who help to identify such students, these grants can be presented at the school’s end-of-year graduation ceremonies. Ongoing communication is encouraged with the students and their families, to keep track and encourage the students’ progress throughout their tertiary studies.

Cater Care’s aim in providing such grants is to create opportunities in the lives of young people for whom opportunity may not often present itself, and to provide a building block towards a promising future for them.

Cater Care RACQ CareFlight Appeal

With over 800 staff across Australia, many in rural and remote areas, Cater Care recognises the valuable contribution of the RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter service.

In 2010, Cater Care began our fundraising initiative by competing in The Great Wheelbarrow Race from Mareeba to Chillagoe – a distance of 134kms. Cater Care employees from across Australia took up the challenge to compete in the three day
event with all monies raised being donated to CareFlight. Cater Care funded all flights, food and accommodation for their team members.

  • This initiative raised $16,582 in 2010 and aims to double that amount in 2011
  • Cater Care were the winners of both the “Charity Award” and “Overall Men’s Division” in 2010

We do this by providing:

  • Recycling and vegetable growing donations are made to local schools and community groups;
  • Workplace placement ventures in the catering, maintenance and administration sectors are provided for local senior students
