Cater Care commits to going greener to help clients save costs

A strong commitment to the environment has seen Cater Care join it’s Brisbane office into the CitySwitch program. This is just the first step in another environmental program implemented by Cater Care that we believe will deliver great benefits to both the environment and to our clients.

CitySwitch is a national program coordinated through the Council of Capital Cities Lord Mayors and is delivered in Queensland by the Brisbane City Council and supported by Queensland Government. This initiative works with office tenants to achieve improved energy efficiency, thereby reducing the carbon emissions attributed to climate change.

By becoming a CitySwitch Green Office Signatory, a business acknowledges at the most senior level that climate change is a serious issue.

Cater Care have undertaken extensive self auditing of all office machines, air-conditioning, lights and networking systems to eliminate all possible wastage of electricity. The audit team also went about educating staff on how they could help save electricity as well as installing timer switches and committing to the purchase of Green Energy.

Within the CitySwitch program, the Brisbane Office of Cater Care now has a 5 star energy rating.

While helping overall environmental sustainability the learnings from being part of this program will also help Cater Care reduce clients electricity usage where Cater Care share the electricity resources on site. Having energy efficient machinery, managing electricity consumption and simple things like remembering to turn off machines at the wall when finished all add up to help clients reduce their overall costs.

“We are very conscious of the environment and want to be leaders in the catering industry for improving environmental sustainability”, said Jeff Hayes, Chief Operating Officer. “This is just a small step but as we roll the program out across over 100 sites we now manage we will make a big difference”, Jeff said.
